RMP Strat Guide

Copied from Faction at arenajunkies.com

Been getting alot of PMs and such, so I figured i'd spend the time I usually spend spamming trade making a decent RMP guide vs most popular 3's setups that i've fought, and some that I havn't.

My experience playing RMP is limited to ~top 12ish in bg9 and like 200 games of RMP on Shadowburn. Feel free to make requests because chances are I forgot some common comps. I'm hardly the most experienced but I do pretty much know how to play it vs any comp, so here goes~

Here is the short version:

1-Pick a target. This is generally the hardest part about winning games as rogue mage priest. Do you kill THIS GUY or THAT GUY??? Pick THE RIGHT GUY and you'll probably end up winning!

2-ATTACK THE TARGET (DON'T FORGET, IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO CAST POLYMORPH AND FROST NOVA ON THE DPS YOU AREN'T ATTACKING, AND SOMETIMES YOU SHOULD ALSO POLYMORPH HEALERS!)

3-MAGE PRESSES COUNTERSPELL ON HEALER

4-PRIEST PRESSES DISPEL ON KILL TARGET (ALOT!!)

5-KILL TARGET DIES! GOOD JOB.

6-Try your hardest not to lose 2v3.

You can do this using the strategy described in 1-4.

Another thing to remember is always call everyones trinket out and use your fear/blind accordingly.

There is never a "correct" target to fear or blind unless I mention it specifically; use it on who you please.

Also, all of these strategies are assuming that your rogue is 20 or more in assasination with vile poisons (If you don't have vile poisons, go respec).vs Rogue Mage Priest2 ways to play this depending on the rogue specs, but i'll go thru the most basic one first.

Kill the mage.

Don't waste time sheeping the rogue because in most games the match will nearly be over by the point you can get a decent duration sheep off on a competent rogue with a competent priest; sheep the priest to start.

Swap to the rogue later in the game if you know he's vanished/cloaked/trinketed/priest is on DR.

The priest should be trying to fear the rogue or priest situationally; make your own judgement on this.

If you can get an early CS on the other mages frost or arcane, do it, but save CS for the priest later in the game (later being about 20 seconds~). If he exposes his frost tree while low on hp though, CS it and kill the retard. Priests #1 priority should be mding ice block.

If your mage is at 1% and has just blocked, and the other teams mage has just blocked too, pain supress him and go for the MD first. (This is just an example of how important getting your MD off fast is).

The winning team will be the one that more skillfully spammed damage on the other teams mage and the priest that got the MD off.

The other way works if the other teams rogue is mutilate or 41 combat.

Kill the rogue, they'll more than likely be on your mage while theirs is left free, so you interrupting the mage is alot more important here; fear him, poly him, CS him always, and whatever you do, stop him from frostbolting or you will probably lose.

On the other hand it's much easier for your mage to kite a rogue who has 1 sprint, 1 vanish, 1 cloak and nothing else to get crip off him who's also being constantly stunned while only having 1 evasion and no cheat death.

Until you get him decently low don't bother ccing the priest, but when he's at sub 70% or so with all his cds burned, start ccing the priest instead of the mage and go for a kill.

vs Druid Warrior Warlock: Attack the Warlock.

Priest should stay mounted until the druid pops up, then run onto him and fear him. If he doesn't trinket, he should be set too far back to recover during the fear, especially if he gets feared far away or out of los.

If he does trinket, this opens him up for a blind and another fear later in the game. SPAM Dispel on the warlock, sheep the warrior, fear the druid every CD, CS the druid as soon as he exposes his tree regardless of whats going on.

Any decent warlock will be spell locking your mage and the druid will be looking to feral charge shatter combos, so be ready to fake those.

Priests; HEAL AND SHIELD THE WATER ELEMENTAL. YOUR ABILITY TO GET A KILL IS ENTIRELY DEPENDANT ON IT. This is a relatively easy comp to beat with vile poisons; as long as you're spamming dispel and the druid eats a full cc at some point, once he ns's he should NOT be able to get the warlocks hp back up.

vs Druid Hunter Warlock: Attack the warlock.

Idea is basically the same as DWW above, except you get a time limit this time; your mage will be oom in about a minute, and he'll have 2 pets on him, making casting very very hard.

However, a warlock being healed by a solo druid is still very easy for rogue mage priest to kill. Not as bad of a matchup as most people believe; same goes for any Druid solo healer 3v3 comps

vs RMP.vs Warlock Priest Rogue: Attack the Priest, sheep either dps depending on dr's. Priest will have a hard time dispelling while trying to kite and heal himself, stack winters chill of course. CS the warlock, you do NOT need to get a cs on the priest to kill him.

Fear the rogue every cd, blind either him or the warlock when they trinket. Priest should not be able to live long enough for your rogue to be out of cd's or die, unless your rogue decides to trinket the opening cheap shot.

vs Druid Warrior Rogue, and 2 melee teams in general Attack the -WARRIOR- in DWR unless the rogue is in pve gear; Attack RET PALADINS or ENHANCEMENT SHAMANS if the team has one, Sheep/nova the other DPS.

CALL OUT your sheep dr's so that people know when they might get raped. Strat is basically try to get a kill before they zerg one of you. Blind/Fear the druid (or any other healer they might have) as usual, CS him as soon as you see him expose his tree since it will be rare (if it's a not a druid, wait for a good time, make your own judgement on when a good time is )

vs Druid Hunter Warrior: Attack the hunter, blind/fear the druid, spam dispel on the hunter, sheep the warrior. Easy win, unless you get very unlucky crippling dispels at bad times. Unlike most druid teams, Your mage will have 0 trouble getting casts off vs this comp, making gibbing the hunter VERY easy.

vs Shaman (both specs) Warrior Paladin Kill the shaman.

CC the warrior mostly, or the paladin when the warrior is on DR; however usually a cs on the paladin at a good time is the only CC you need. Dispel freedoms, sac and earth shield fast. If you're fighting a team that likes to get on your priest, he needs to play it like he's going to instantly die if the warrior gets on him at any point; stick near a pillar and only come out to dispel or fear if it looks like a good idea.

If the warrior chases you he'll end up getting sheeped/novaed out of los forcing him to get on the mage. If priest sees chances to burn, burn the paladin, not the shaman.

vs Mage Hunter Priest/Druid:

Attack the Hunter, even if he's BM or dwarf. The strat is basically the same as Druid/Hunter/Warrior, except add in the other team blowing every single interrupt on your mage and putting both pets on him. It's a very hard comp, however you can steal games by blind/fearing the druid (AS USUAL) and being lucky enough to get a shatter combo off before your mage is oom. CS polys vs this comp, unless you're close to getting a kill on the hunter.

vs Priest Warrior/Rogue/Hunter/Warlock Druid:

The priest is the only dispeller on this comp, if you get on him you can easily pressure him to the point that he has to heal himself alot, making it hard for him to dispel the dps. With the amount of time you can cc the warrior, it's very easy to get mana burns off (you should burn the druid first, priest will OOM himself fast enough). They just don't have any offensive pressure making it a very slow paced game that you should (usually) eventually win. Priest should spam dispel the priest whenever he gets more than 1 lifebloom on him, and burn the druid every chance he sees. Hunter in this title is a lie, i've yet to fight that comp but I don't believe it'd be much different.

vs Druid Mage Warrior:

Attack the mage, CS cyclones, poly warrior (I probably shouldn't even mention this part anymore). Teams that get on the rogue can give you trouble however you can gib the mage fairly quickly with dispel spam within the rogues cds before it starts to matter. Mana burn the mage if you find yourself not using all your GCDS. Guess what? FEAR/BLIND THE DRUIDvs Priest Warrior PaladinLargely the same as Shaman Warrior Paladin, however you need to pay alot of attention to burns. Yes, it is possible for the priest to get burns off on either your mage or your priest even with CS and a rogue on him, especially if they're smart about using bop for it. Double dispel also makes warrior CC alot harder, so try to pull him out of los before you poly him as a general rule. If he simply switches between priest/mage depending on whos in los forget it and gamble on polying him in sight of 2 dispellers. Even a few seconds of CC helps. Priest should burn the paladin.

vs Mage Warrior Priest,

or any Caster/Priest/Warrior team Zerg the priest, CC the warrior. Blind warrior when he trinkets. CS the mage. Priest cannot reliably dispel the warrior while trying to kite and heal himself. If you want to get REALLY PRO, you can coordinate cs/ks with polys and novas on the warrior, but its so easy to win that it's not neccesary.
